The Prince William school administrators in Washington D.C. are proposing a list of required reading material on a grade-by-grade level, which would then be taught to the entire county's students, according to The Washington Post. Lucy Calkins, professor of education at Teachers College, Columbia University, commented that this plan may leave slower readers behind and would not challenge more advanced readers since each student has individual needs.
