The Program in Arts Administration at TC and both the Performing Arts Administration and Visual Arts Administration Programs at The Steinhardt School of Education, New York University hosted the Annual 2002 AAAE Conference in New York City. The event took place from April 10th to the 12th.

"In this our Jubilee Year," as AAAE celebrates its 25th anniversary, "it is particularly pertinent that this year's conference be in New York City, where we were founded," said Professor Joan Jeffri, Program Coordinator of TC's Arts Administration Progam and President of the Association of Arts Administration.

Founded in 1975 as an international organization and incorporated in 1976 in the United States, the AAAE represents university programs in arts administration, encompassing visual, performing, media, and arts service organizations. It provides leadership and a forum for communication regarding the education of arts managers. Its members include representatives from graduate and undergraduate programs throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and South America, as well as individuals and institutions interested in furthering formal arts management education.

"We have invited prominent cultural leaders to give AAAE members and the public an opportunity to experience a variety of arts management issues as they relate to a major urban cultural environment," added Jeffri.

The conference provided a balance between issues in the field of training and education and issues in the professional world of the arts. It offered development, vision and tools to national and international members.
