Drexel University School of Education Visits TC

After Drexel University's School of Education won the University's Departmental Award for 2001-2002, Dr. Fredricka K. Reisman, Director of the School of Education, decided to spend their stipend on a trip to Teachers College to discuss the creative prevention of school violence, emotional intelligence, and the arts.
After Drexel University's School of Education won the University's Departmental Award for 2001-2002, Dr. Fredricka K. Reisman, Director of the School of Education, decided to spend their stipend on a trip to Teachers College to discuss the creative prevention of school violence, emotional intelligence, and the arts. They met with professors Graeme Sullivan (pictured above) and John Broughton from the Department of Arts and Humanities for a dialogue on these topics. Sullivan headed the discussion of the importance of creativity in teaching. In the debate between content and pedagogy knowledge, he guided the discussion towards the importance of teaching students critical reasoning across the curriculum. Broughton led them into discussions about terrorism and film and their influences on students. He also talked about the influence that standardized testing has on school culture and community.
