Technology for All
Clifford Hill, professor of language and education, recently visited Rutgers University's student center to talk about the Pacesetter Program, a new venture of which he is the co-founder. It provides college-bound students from urban areas and culturally diverse
backgrounds with the technological knowledge needed for their higher education. "A lot of academic programs have been built," Hill said. "Pacesetter is looking into the future."
Pacesetter focuses on using literature, film and media, and brings the approach to urban areas in New York. Hill hopes to help culturally diverse students who plan on attending college and who are from urban areas acquire technological skills, as well as gain the ability to interact with the larger society they will encounter after graduation.
The article, entitled "Columbia U. Professors Start Urban Prep Program" appeared in the October 17 edition of the Daily Targum.
