Clea Fernandez, professor of psychology and education, commented on lesson study, a learning improvement technique adopted from Japan. She and other researchers agree lesson study is more about the process than the practice as it enables teachers to learn more about their pedagogy while analyzing and discussing lessons.

"Lesson study has almost nothing to do with perfect lessons," said Fernandez, who is also the director of TC's Lesson Research Group. "It's about producing reflection. You can produce a mediocre lesson and teachers still get a whole lot out of that process."

The article, entitled "In 'Lesson Study' Sessions, Teachers Polish Their Craft," appeared in the February 11 edition of Education Week.
