New Year, New Look
Welcome to the first issue of the new Inside (no more "TC," as you may have noticed). We've redesigned it to bring you the same lively content but with a clearer thematic focus. You'll find regular coverage of America's educational achievement gap; an ongoing series about the College's initiative to bring under one banner its many efforts to help schools in Harlem and other under-served areas of the city; and reports on the school's education partnerships in China, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and elsewhere throughout the world.
We'll also do our best to capture the incredible diversity of expertise at Teachers College through stories about our people-whether it's new faculty members like Chris Hass, an expert on Human Physiology, or alumni like Elmer Myers (with two degrees and a stint as a TC Peace Corps Fellow), now chief trouble-shooter for 13 public schools in one of the nation's poorest congressional districts.
Check us out, too, on the College's new Web site (launch date: September 23), where you'll find videotaped interviews and other enhancements to the stories we are publishing in print (check out www.tc.edu/inside for our interview with former Tennessee Board of Education chief Douglas Wood, who is heading up a new TC teacher training initiative in city schools).
Here's to a great year!
