Jodie Lane Fund Created
A $1 million endowed scholarship has been established at Teachers College to honor the memory of Jodie Lane, a TC doctoral student who was electrocuted last January while walking her dogs in New York City's East Village. The College has received the first of five annual installments of $200,000 for the Jodie Lane Fund, which will support a scholarship, fellowship or research project for one or more master's or doctoral students in Clinical Psychology at Teachers College. The College anticipates making its first Jodie Lane Fund award in the fall of 2006.
The scholarship was established at the direction of Lane's parents as part of a settlement with Con Edision.
A gift from the Susan Stein Shiva Foundation added another $25,000 to the fund on behalf of Andrew Shiva, a TC alumnus who received his master's degree and Ph.D. in Counseling and Clinical Psychology. Further contributions to the Jodie Lane Fund are welcome. To contribute, please contact the Office of Development at 212-678-3679.
