ArtsConnect- Schools Give Good Early Marks to New Program

Nonprofit arts organizations like the Performing Arts Center didn't used to be in the education business. Arts organizations are still struggling with how best to fulfill their roles as educators, but most organizations are committed to working with the schools in the community, and believe in the importance of establishing partnerships.
Nonprofit arts organizations like the Performing Arts Center didn't used to be in the education business. Arts organizations are still struggling with how best to fulfill their roles as educators, but most organizations are committed to working with the schools in the community, and believe in the importance of establishing partnerships.

"Keeping alive a complicated partnership is one of the pressing issues in arts education today," said Rob Horowitz, associate director of the Center for Arts Education Research at Columbia University's Teachers College. Horowitz spends about six months a year traveling around the country evaluating arts education programs. Under the center's contract with Artsvision, Horowitz has already begun interviewing the ArtsConnect participants to see how it's working.
