On Monday June 19th, Michael A. Rebell, executive director of The Campaign for Educational Equity, was honored by AVODAH: The Jewish Service Corps. and was presented with the Partner in Social Justice Award.  In presenting the award to Rebell, Rabbi Jeremy Kalmansofsky praised Rebell's service to his community and his commitment to social justice and applauded his dedication to the Campaign for Fiscal Equity (CFE) litigation and for all of his work to ensure equitable funding for all New York City public school children.

In accepting the Partner in Social Justice Award, Rebell told the audience that "much of the motivation to pursue the CFE litigation -- to ensuring that all children in New York City have access to good schools and teachers, to an opportunity to learn, to an education that ensures a future instead of a dead-end -- is rooted in my Jewish value system that promotes doing what is right and just."

AVODAH founder and executive director, Rabbi David Rosenn, thanked Rebell for his "dedication to justice and for his efforts in organizing communities for social change."
