TC Ranks Second in US News Rankings of Graduate Schools of Education
Teachers College, Columbia University, has placed second in the 2007 U.S. News & World Report rankings for graduate schools of education. With an overall score of 98 out of 100, the College received a peer assessment score of 4.3 out of 5.0 and a superintendent assessment score of 4.7 out of 5.0, tying with Harvard University. Of the top 50 schools, Teachers College was listed as having the highest amount of funded research dollars ($35 million) for 2005 and granted the most PhDs and EdDs in 2004-2005 (211).
In the category of programs ranked best by Education School Deans, Teachers College placed among the top ten in six of the ten categories listed. Those included Administration/Supervision (8th), Curriculum/Instruction (3rd), Educational Psychology (9th), Education Policy (4th), Elementary Education (5th), and Secondary Education (6th).
The report also noted that among the top 50 graduate schools of education, Teachers College had the highest enrollment in graduate teaching programs (1,602) for 2005.
