TC's 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients
The College honors five graduates who have done amazing - and amazingly varied - things.
Every year the
Alumni Council recognizes select alumni for their outstanding and extraordinary
efforts in their careers following their tenure at Teachers College.
Distinguished Alumni Award recipients have gone on to achieve great feats over
the course of their careers. The Alumni Council also recognizes the rising
stars who have gone on to make an impressive impact within 10 years of
graduating from TC with an Early Career Award.
The recipients of TC’s 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awards are:
- The Reverend Lesley George Anderson ’87, President, of the United Theological Seminary of the West Indies
- Raphael M. Ortiz ’82, Founder of Museo Del Barrio
- Viola Vaughn ’84, Founder of 10,000 Girls in Senegal, West Africa
- Vivian Ota Wang, Ph.D ’95, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Agency Representative of the National Science and Technology Council
In addition, Luis Rios, Jr. ’01, Education Consultant, California Department of Education, received the College’s Early Career Award.
