TC Memorial Will Mark 9/11 Anniversary
TC will hold a memorial program for the 10th anniversary of the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks. The program will take place on Monday September 12th, from 4 to 5 pm in Milbank Chapel.
TC President Susan Fuhrman will deliver opening remarks, followed by a talk by George Bonanno, Professor of Psychology and Education, who has done extensive research on issues of grieving and resilience in the face of trauma.
A study published Bonanno and his students in 2005 explored the personality types of the people who proved most personally resilient in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. Bonanno is also the author of The Other Side of Sadness: What the New Science of Bereavement Tells Us About Life After Loss (Basic Books, 2009).
Prior to the conclusion of the program, TC Provost Tom James and Jolene Lane, Director for Diversity and Community, will call for a moment of silence and then invite audience members to read the names of anyone they knew personal who died in the attacks.
Janice Robinson, Vice President for Diversity and Community Affairs, whose office is sponsoring the event, will deliver closing remarks.
