TC's Dinelia Rosa is 2013 President-Elect of the New York State Psychological Association
In 2014 Rosa, Director of TC's Dean-Hope Center, will become the first person of color to serve as the organization's President
In addition to her clinical experiences, other past experiences that have prepared Rosa to lead NYSPA include serving four years as a member of the New York State Office of Mental Health (NYSOMH) Multicultural Advisory Committee aimed at reviewing new programs developed by NYSOMH to assess cultural sensitivity and make recommendations. She is past Board Member of the National Latino Behavioral Association, and past President of the NY Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals. At the American Psychological Association (APA), Rosa is a current member of the APA Practice Organization Committee of State Leaders, and is Member-At-Large of APA Division 31- State, Provincial and Territorial Affairs Associations.
Rosa’s presidential goals include increasing diversity representation: continuing to bring expertise to bear to inform and influence health care reform and the Affordable Care Act by advocating for the role of psychologists to increase access to care; and increasing advocacy efforts to support students’ path to the credentials of the profession (including preservation of existing internship positions).
Rosa will be the first person of color to hold NYSPA's presidency.
