If You Could Save Time in a Bottle...
If you’ve enjoyed celebrating TC’s first 125 years, why not get started on the next round? TC’s Gottesman Libraries is inviting all members of the TC community – faculty, students, staff and alumni—to contribute stories, papers, emails, photos, videos, links to sites you want to share, and practically anything else that can be digitized for inclusion in the TC 125 Digital Time Capsule.
Billed as “the world’s first online time capsule,” the Capsule will be hosted on PocketKnowledge, TC’s institutional archive, as a history of the College intended for future researchers, historians and anyone with a passion for education. Following a submission period, all items that have been entered into the Capsule will be “buried” (made private) by library staff for 125 years. (Contributors have the option to add their items to a “Provisional Pocket” through which they will continue to have access to and control over items they submit.)
To submit items for the capsule:
1. Go to http://pocketknowledge.tc.columbia.edu
2. Use the “Add an item” feature to upload and
describe your item. Contributors are encouraged to add a short description for
the benefit of the public and the Gottesman’s Digital Time Capsule
representatives.
3. Please be sure to add your item to the “The TC125 Digital Time Capsule” Pocket. Now you’re done entering your item(s) into the Capsule!
Submission deadline is Friday, November 15, 2013.
For help digitizing or uploading items, contact Library Staff online at http://library.tc.columbia.edu/ask or stop by the Gottesman’s services desk.
