EPSA students & alumni react to the events in Ferguson, MO and Eric Garner's death.

In the recent months, a lot of media and public attention has been devoted to the events in Ferguson, Missouri. More recently, Eric Garner's death and the Grand Jury's failure to indict Officer Pantaleo has sparked media and public activity here in New York City, and across the nation. EPSA students and alumni have their reaction to the situation.

Basil Smikle, a Ph.D. candidate in Politics & Education program, finished a piece for TheHill.com on how one member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in Queens is engaging young people in the aftermath of Ferguson and the midterm elections.  You can read it here at After The Cameras Leave Ferguson.

On August 2nd, Basil Smikle talked to Steve Kornacki, on MSNBC Up: My Take on the NYPD Chockhold Case. 

On November 24, Travis Bristol, Ph.D. in Education Policy, a Research & Policy Fellow at Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education, wrote on EDUTOPIA a piece about what schools and teachers should do to address race and violence in response to Ferguson  Race and Violence Should Be a School-Wide Subject.
