Professor Xia Xue's presentation on quantity and quality of primary and secondary school teacher quality in China
On February 17, 2014, Xia Xue, a visiting scholar from Northeast China Normal University, gave a presentation on the quantity and quality of primary and secondary school teachers in China.
Her study analyzed the issue from the economics perspective. She first described the major problems of the teacher labor market in China, such as the low standard of teacher credentialing, teacher loss and shortage in rural areas mainly due to low wages. Then she analyzed several causes of the problems. Discussion about possible measures was followed.
