Teachley, a New York-based educational technology company founded by Kara Carpenter (Ph.D. '13) and Dana Pagar (Ph.D. '13), graduates from the Cognitive Studies in Education program in the Department of Human Development, and Rachael Labrecque, a current Ph.D. student in the program, has won an Apple Design Award 2014 for Addimal Adventure, an education application that helps young children learn addition. TC Receives $10 million Federal Grant to Study Ways to Improve Remedial Assessment and Instruction The Community College Research Center (CCRC) at Teachers College, in collaboration with social policy research organization MDRC and scholars at Stanford, U.C. Davis, and Vanderbilt, has been awarded a five-year grant of $9,951,362 from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences to create a center focused on rigorously assessing the effects of new approaches to remedial assessment, placement, and instruction. The new Center for the Analysis of Postsecondary Readiness (CAPR) will use findings from this research to assist states and colleges in crafting policies and programs that lead to improved outcomes for struggling students.
