Times Editorial References TC Study of CUNY ASAP Program
A New York Times Editorial on Jan. 15 references a 2013 study authored by TC's Henry Levin and Emma Garcia which found that CUNY's ASAP (Accelerated Study in Associate Programs), which provide money for books, coaching, tutoring, tuition waivers and transportation, improve community college graduation rates. Levin is the William H Kilpatrick Professor of Economics & Education and Founder of the Center for Benefit-Cost Studies of Education at Teachers College, where Garcia is an affiliated researcher. The study also found that, for every dollar invested in ASAP, $3.50 in tax revenues and unused social service benefits were gained. To view the editorial, click here.
