Dear TC Community,
In the wake of recent mass shootings across our country – in Brownsville, NY; Gilroy, CA; El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH – we offer our condolences to those affected by these heinous acts of violence.
As the news unfolds, we are learning that some recent incidents appear to be rooted in white supremacist ideology. In particular, the alleged shooter in El Paso targeted immigrant and Latinx communities. We condemn these hate-fueled senseless acts of violence and all expressions of hate that do not reflect our values, and we reaffirm TC’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
We also encourage you to read Professor Sonali Rajan’s excellent Views piece about confronting the national public health epidemic of gun violence, and invite you to continue thinking about what we all can do to prevent further acts of senseless violence.
