Dear Members of the TC Community:
This week we are celebrating Teachers College’s essential staff for their work in safeguarding our campus and preserving our community during the pandemic.
These brave and dedicated individuals put their own safety and wellbeing on the line to ensure that the Teachers College infrastructure and operations remained functional; that critical services were provided for our students, faculty and staff; and that the College would be clean, safe and ready for our return. They inspired us with their kindness, courage and calm. Our essential staff enabled TC not only to persevere but to emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.
Over the next several days, let’s come together to offer our thanks, whether by stopping in the hallway to say hello and express our gratitude, or by wearing one of the thank you stickers that will be available at campus entrance points. Let me begin by publicly offering my thanks and sharing that, through a Presidential Proclamation, I am officially designating Thursday and Friday, October 21 and 22, 2021, as “Teachers College Essential Staff Days.”
My thanks to all of you for joining me in recognizing our essential staff members. And let’s remember that these staff colleagues remain truly essential to all that TC does, every day.
With appreciation,
Thomas Bailey
President, Teachers College
