Dear Members of the TC Community,
Today we join graduate and professional schools around the country in observing National Graduate & Professional Student Appreciation Week. We are grateful to our students every day, but this week, in particular, we will celebrate the many contributions they make to our community through academic excellence, research, teaching, service and general good cheer. It is also a time for students to step back from their studies to appreciate all that they and their peers have accomplished and to have some fun with each other outside of their normal academic routines.
The Office of Graduate Student Life and Development has put together a terrific week of activities including a game night, service opportunities, giveaways and live music at Everett Cafe. Additionally, Grace Dodge Dining Hall will be serving a student recipe each day at lunch and dinner—be sure to stop by to try them out!
This year, Graduate Student Appreciation week coincides with our first-ever TC Impact Day, on Wednesday, April 6. I hope everyone will visit TCImpactDay.org to find out all the ways to show appreciation for our students and the impact they are having, including by giving to financial aid or student emergency funds, contributing to causes students have voted as most important to them or shouting out a student on social media with the hashtag #TCImpactDay.
TC students are the beating heart of our institution and, quite honestly, the best part of our jobs. We are so proud of all they do for each other, our community, our city and our world. Thank you, students, for all you bring to Teachers College. We hope you have a fantastic week!
Warmly,
Thomas Bailey
