Summer in the city is one thing. Summer with TC is another. While you’ll find campus a bit quieter, you’ll also still find the very things that define Teachers College itself: our vibrant community taking advantage of what the city has to offer, and scholars making a difference right at TC. 

Here’s just a glimpse of happenings at the College (so far) this summer.

Educators continued doing critical work during the College’s annual summer institute, Reimagining Education: Teaching and Learning in Racially Diverse Schools, which again welcomed thousands of participants this year. 

TC alumni gathered at mixers in New York (pictured) and other planned events across the country.

Learning and summer fun combine at Hollingworth Science Camp, where students are exploring this summer’s theme of sustainability in hands-on experiments. 

TC honored more than 70 colleagues who reached milestone TC anniversaries during the Long-Term Employee Recognition Ceremony. 

The Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education, & Policy hosted its Inaugural Food Education Conference — which included workshops on research in food and nutrition, conversations with stakeholders about integrating nutrition education into the pre-K-12 curriculum, and an awards ceremony to honor food heroes in New York City. 

K-5 educators gained needed professional development training in climate education in a free, four-day institute hosted by the Center for Sustainable Futures at Teachers College and the New York City Public Schools’ Office of Sustainability.

Educators convened with the Digital Futures Institute at the Smith Learning Theater to discuss how artificial intelligence is impacting equitable education. Participants also had the opportunity to engage hands-on with AI tools and learn ways to integrate these technologies into teaching practices.

Student-residents joined thousands of New Yorkers in participating in the AIDS Walk for the 16th year in a row. 

Educators and administrators convened with research leaders and innovators at the Education Leadership Data Analytics Conference, which gathers individuals using evidence and data to build trust and collaboration across research, practice, and policy in PK-12 education. 

And we’re taking advantage of golden-hour opportunities to cool off in the neighborhood treasure that is Riverside Park.
