On the fourth floor of Macy Hall, you’ll discover an inspired oasis. The Macy Art Gallery, tucked in the winding halls of Teachers College, is where students and faculty have shared their wide-ranging art for generations. One of the last spaces on campus still in its original use, the gallery closes a busy 2024 with its annual “Fall Studio Works,” an exhibit of student artworks curated by Art & Art Education instructors from the painting, drawing, and ceramics studios.

“This exhibition is one of three annual exhibitions that feature work done in our program’s studio courses by students from programs across the TC and Columbia campuses,” says Jennifer Ruth Hoyden, a doctoral student in the Art & Art Education program who also serves as the gallery’s coordinator and fellow. “Having the opportunity to exhibit your work in an art gallery rounds out a rich semester-long experience for students, whether they are new to the medium or advanced. We love to discover and celebrate the work they have done.”

Enjoy a sneak peek at select works from the exhibit above this holiday season, and visit “Fall Studio Works” at the College’s Macy Gallery through Jan. 9.
