On May 20, Teachers College welcomed Will Trevor as Director of Online Learning. In the role, Trevor will serve as a member of the Provost’s Leadership Team and provide strategic leadership in expanding online education at TC.
“With Will’s rich background and experience in facilitating online expansion initiatives in higher education, I know that the TC community will benefit from his innovation, vision and leadership,” shared KerryAnn O’Meara, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Provost and Dean of the College, in her email to the TC community announcing Trevor’s appointment.
Trevor is an education and training professional with more than ten years of experience in designing, developing and delivering instructional courses, materials and resources for adult learning. He joins the Teachers College community from Tufts Gordon Institute, where he served as Director of Programs, Operations and Marketing, and recently led Tufts in developing new degree and certificate programs in Technology Management and Leadership.
Trevor helped to establish effective marketing strategies for these new programs. Through the development of various projects for online programs, he has collaborated with many different vendors in the online learning space, including Coursera, Cengage, Ellucian, Blackboard and Canvas.
“I am thrilled to join Teachers College at such an exciting stage in the history of the institution and particularly to be given the opportunity to help shape the future of online learning with innovative new programs that advance the careers of our students in education, health, and psychology,” shares Trevor.
Prior to his work at Tufts University, Trevor served as the Assistant Dean and Director of Online Programs at Albany Law School, where he headed the development and expansion of online master's LL.M. and certificate programs, with new online degrees in HR and government affairs.
Additionally, Trevor has taught in higher education for more than ten years, both online and in-person, at numerous institutions across the U.K. and U.S., including University of Essex Online, Leeds Beckett University, Excelsior University and Sage College of Albany. At Tufts Gordon Institute, he instructed immersive leadership workshops and served as the faculty director for and provided key leadership for the Leadership and Management minor.
Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Global Affairs Portia Williams and Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer Dave Comroe, who co-led the search for the position, noted Trevor’s strong ability to collaborate, and track record of delivering the highest-quality teaching and learning programming in an online format.
“It’s an honor to join such a talented and committed group of people at Teachers College, whether that’s the faculty, the staff, or, most importantly, the students. And to paraphrase what it says on the front of the building, I look forward to helping bring true change to the lives of our students," Trevor concludes.
