Dear Members of the TC Community,
I am pleased to announce that Will Trevor is joining Teachers College as Director of Online Learning, effective May 20, 2024. In this role, he will serve as a member of the Provost’s Leadership Team, and provide strategic leadership in expanding online education at TC.
Will is an education and training professional with more than ten years of experience in the design, development and delivery of instructional courses, materials and resources for adult learning. He is joining us from Tufts Gordon Institute where he served as Director of Programs, Operations, and Marketing, and he recently led Tufts University to develop new degree and certificate programs in Technology Management and Leadership. Will was involved in establishing effective marketing strategies for these new programs as well, and while developing a variety of projects for online programs, he collaborated with many different vendors in the online learning space, including Coursera, Cengage, Ellucian, Blackboard and Canvas. Prior to his work at Tufts University, Will was the Assistant Dean and Director of Online Programs at Albany Law School, where he headed the development and expansion of online master's LL.M. and certificate programs, with new online degrees in HR and government affairs.
Additionally, Will has taught in higher education for more than ten years, both online and in-person, at numerous institutions across the U.K. and U.S., including University of Essex Online, Leeds Beckett University, Excelsior University and Sage College of Albany. At Tufts Gordon Institute, he instructed immersive leadership workshops and served as the faculty director for and provided key leadership for the Leadership and Management minor.
With Will’s rich background and experience in facilitating online expansion initiatives in higher education, I know that the TC community will benefit from his innovation, vision and leadership. I would also like to express my gratitude to the search committee for their thorough work, and to Portia Williams, Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Global Affairs, and Dave Comroe, Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer, who co-led the search with great attention. “Will was quickly identified as someone who could collaborate with faculty, staff and students,” Portia shares. “He brings significant experience in many of the areas that we need, as well as an understanding of the landscape factors that impact the business of education and successful online programming.” Dave, who has previously held stewardship roles for online programs, comments, “Will distinguished himself as a clear subject matter expert, a willing collaborator and with a long list of successes delivering the highest quality teaching and learning strategies in an online format.”
Please join me in warmly welcoming Will Trevor to Teachers College.
