On Wednesday, 05/15/2024, Columbia University will be hosting a Student Graduation Celebration which requires West 120th St. to be closed from Broadway to Amsterdam Ave. to parking beginning at midnight (Tuesday night). Additionally, vehicle traffic is prohibited on West 120th Street beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 5/15/2024. This includes anyone that needs to enter or exit TC’s ADA parking, located at the 528 driveway, after 6:00 a.m.
All TC identification holders and their guests can continue to access TC’s campus, following the guest process outlined previously. During the 5/15 event, officers from TC Public Safety will be stationed at both the Amsterdam Ave. and Broadway ends of 120th Street to help ensure TC students, guests, and visitors have pedestrian access to the campus through Zankel Hall. Graduates, students, guests and visitors of the College should advise the officers that they are going to TC and use the sidewalk on the north side of the street for access.
We encourage all employees to access the College through Whittier Hall, located at 1230 Amsterdam Ave. (at the corner of 120th St.), to minimize pedestrian traffic on 120th.
As of this time, it is unknown when West 120th St. will reopen to vehicle traffic, however, the event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 15, so it is anticipated the roadway will reopen shortly after the event has concluded.
Again, there will be NO PARKING AVAILABLE on 120th St. between Broadway and Amsterdam Ave. from approximately 6:00 a.m. until mid-afternoon on 5/15.
Please plan accordingly for 5/15.
