About
At Teachers College we value music as human activity, as a way of knowing and relating to the world that serves individuals throughout their lifespan in personally relevant and culturally significant ways. We see music as a core component to schooling, and are committed to preparing teachers ready to embrace the rewards and challenges of public school teaching and to creatively seek new opportunities to address the persistent need for an education in music within the changing structures of our society.
The Music and Music Education Program is pleased to house the Teachers College Community Choir. The Choir provides a space for members of the TC and Columbia communities to come together in song. We sing a diverse array of music, drawing on the musical interests and expertise of all our members. We seek to engage members at all levels of experience, providing opportunities for all to grow through vocal training, collective singing, shared leadership, and joyous performances at TC and in the community. There are no auditions and everyone is welcome.
