Faye Liu
Digital Electronic
Hi, I’m Faye Liu, an EdM student in Music Education at Teachers’ College, Columbia University. I am captivated by the transformative journey of music creation—whether it’s composing, producing, performing, or experiencing the profound spiritual connection that music fosters. For me, music is more than an art; it’s a bridge to joy, community, and shared humanity.
As a composer and producer, I collaborated on the original musical “The Thief.” In classical music, I had the honor of working with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra to perform my Cello Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 2, “Forgiveness,” at the Concert Hall of the China Conservatory of Music. Expanding into pop, I toured as a keyboardist for Chinese pop star GAI during his world tour. My original songs, including “Follow Your Will,”跟隨祢心意, “Peace Is You,”平安是你, and “Hope,” 盼望, have collectively reached millions of views on YouTube. Recently, I’ve ventured into jazz, composing the original piece “Song in G” for trombone and piano duet, which was performed at Teachers College’s Milbank Chapel. Currently, I’m preparing to release an original album.
At Teachers’ College, I am blending my passion for teaching with my love of music, striving to inspire others through the creative process and the transformative power of education. I am deeply committed to creating spaces where students uncover their unique voices and contribute to a collective harmony. My vision is to nurture not only skilled musicians but also individuals who discover joy, purpose, and connection through music.
