Dr. ZhaoHong Han is Professor of Language and Education in the TESOL and Applied Linguistics Department at Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Han co-directs the TCSOL Program with Dr. Lening Liu. Dr. Han’s main research includes second/foreign language acquisition and language teaching. Her research is widely published in international journals and monographs of applied linguistics and second/foreign language education.

Dr. Lening Liu is Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University. In addition, he serves as co-director of the TCSOL Program with Dr. Han. Dr. Liu's research interests are in the areas of historical syntax, discourse grammar and Chinese language pedagogy. He has published a number of articles on the evolution of Chinese conjunctive adverbs, the rhetorical structures of Chinese, the history and innovation of Chinese pedagogy, etc.

Dr. Vivian Lindhardsen is the director of the TESOL Certificate Program and the Community Language Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, and she teaches Grammar and Assessment courses in the TESOL and Applied Linguistics Program at TC. Dr. Lindhardsen’s main research interests include second language assessment and pedagogical approaches to teaching and assessing writing. She is currently a commissioner of the CEA (Commission on English Language Accreditation) and a member of the PRAXIS ESOL National Advisory Committee (NAC) at ETS.

Dr. Sharon Chang

Dr. Sharon Chang is a Lecturer and Student Teaching Coordinator in the Bilingual/Bicultural Education Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research and teaching interests are sociocultural perspectives of language acquisition and pedagogy (in and out of school context), Chinese languages and linguistic diversity, Bilingual and Multicultural Education.

Dr. Zhongqi Shi teaches Chinese language and culture at Columbia University. He has developed and taught Chinese language courses of all levels and specializes in Chinese for Business Purposes. He authored several textbooks that are widely used in the US and China. Dr. Shi is a frequent presenter at national and international professional conferences. Currently, he serves on the Board of Chinese Languages Teachers Association in the US. He also directed Columbia’s Business Chinese and Internship program in Shanghai from 2008-2016.

Ashley is a doctoral student of Applied Linguistics at Teachers College, Columbia University, specializing in second language acquisition. She holds a Master of Science degree in TESOL from The City College of New York, and teaches graduate-level courses related to second language acquisition and pedagogy. She also has seven years of ESL/EFL teaching experience with learners located in Argentina, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Bronx, NY.

Cong Jojo Dong

Cong Dong (Jojo) holds a masters degree in Chinese Linguistics and Literature from Ewha Women’s University in South Korea and is continuing to work toward her PhD. She has taught Chinese and Korean language for more than 6 years. Jojo graduated from the certificate program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL) at Columbia University Teacher’s College in 2018. From the program, she developed a thorough understanding of teaching methods for second language acquisition, with an emphasis on task-based language teaching. Her thesis on this subject has been selected for presentation at the 17th New York International Conference on Teaching Chinese.

Zhizi Chen

Zhizi (ZZ) is a doctoral student in Applied Linguistics at Teachers College, Columbia University and her research interest lies in L2 vocabulary acquisition through cognitive- or psycholinguistic lenses. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s Degree of Science in Education (Teaching, Learning, and Leadership), where she also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Wharton Business School. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from the English College, Shanghai International Studies University (上外). She also has been working as a conference live speech interpreter at more than 80 international conferences for clients that include a U. S. Federal Chief Judge,  the Chairman of Nobel Prize Committee, governors, embassy ambassadors,  provincial and municipal government senior officials,  chairmen of some of the largest companies in the world, Nobel Prize Winner and city mayors.

Before joining Teachers College, she worked as a full-time lecturer teaching translation/conference interpreting, English debating, and English public speaking courses to English majors for two universities in China for four years, and for NC State University and Elon University as an adjunct lecturer.

When she is not busy, you will find her gardening, oil-painting, or at Dave and Buster's.
