Research Discipline/Bio

Toni-Ann Ricketts is an English-Language Arts Teacher who is passionate about developing and implementing curriculum that is culturally relevant and sustaining. Deeply influenced by her own journey as a scholar and teacher, Toni-Ann's research interests lies at the intersection of literacy, intercultural communication, identity formation, and academic achievement. She hopes that her research and/or work helps to further the academic discourse pertaining to the acquisition of literacy and communication skills in the middle school classroom. Toni-Ann is a proud nerd who reads for fun and she can usually be found exploring her local bookstores, listening to music, hiking, engaging in some form of creative writing, or simply taking a much needed and well deserved nap.
