(1993) Joan Sovern Prize, & the Louis Sudler Prize given to one student in Columbia College chosen from all the combined Arts departments for excellence in their field.         

Drawing—it's practice, use, and pedagogy; visual cognition—the psychology and neuroscience of visual processing as it relates to drawing; Visual Thinking Strategies, and research underlying developmental stages in visual cognition.
