Credit Card

Most donors make gifts of cash and cash equivalents. Cash gifts can be given annually, as a one-time gift or as a gift pledged over a period of years.

Your check should be made payable to Teachers College, Columbia University. To be sure that your gift is properly credited, please note the purpose or designation of the gift in the memo section of the check or include a letter outlining the purpose of the gift. Stock

To make a gift of securities, please use the attached Securities Transmittal Form. Stock gifts are credited by date of transfer to TC and must be completed before 12/31 for tax credit in a given calendar year. Please note that it may take several business days to complete the transfer. In order for us to properly acknowledge your gift it is important that you notify TC of the transaction, name of donor, name of stock, number of shares transferred, and gift purpose. Donor Advised Funds

The donor-advised fund (DAF) is becoming an increasingly popular way to make a charitable gift. DAFs allow you to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax benefit and then make grants from the fund over time to Teachers College, an IRS-qualified public-charity. If you have already established a DAF and would like to recommend a grant or distribution to TC, please make your check payable to Teachers College, Columbia University and mail to Box 306, 525 West 120th Street, New York, NY 10027. We would appreciate if you would notify Teachers College of your recommendation and gift purpose. Please contact our offices at 212-678-3231 for more information.

IRA Distributions

Corporate & Foundation Giving

TC’s Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) cultivates and maintains relationships with grant-making organizations that have funding interests aligned with the College’s mission, CFR works with faculty on proposal submissions and stewardship for awarded grants.

Foundations and corporations support a wide range of TC initiatives and programs, including:

  • scholarships for graduate students preparing for urban teaching careers;
  • renovation of the College's physical plant, local, national and international professional development programs for teachers and principals;
  • partnerships with schools in Harlem, the Bronx, and other high-need areas of New York City;
  • programs that provide information on education to journalists, policymakers, parents and other decision-makers;
  • and research on critical issues in education.
