Rocket Cases: "A Waking Dream"

Rocket Cases: "A Waking Dream"

Second Floor

When asked for a definition of hope, the ancient Greek philosopher and polymath Aristotle is known to have described it as "a waking dream" (Diogenes Laertius, Lives of Eminent Philosophers).  Our aspirations, wishes, or desires are revealed through our conscious awareness of imagination and future possibilities.

Inspired by the many touching and thoughtful reflections for The Hope Tree, currently on display in the Kasser Family Exhibition Space, we present select books that address the theme of hope in children's literature, covering people, symbols, art, history, fable and fantasy that inspire and motivate us-- whether to be resilient, drive positive action, or provide purpose in our lives.
