Prerequisite Courses
Master of Science (MS) Degree + Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RDN) Preparation
If your goal is to complete a master’s degree and be eligible to complete the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist exam to become an RDN, you are required to successfully complete the following seven or eight undergraduate-level prerequisite courses:
- General chemistry with lab (completed through a comprehensive one-semester course or through General Chemistry 1)
- Organic chemistry with lab (completed through a comprehensive one-semester course or through Organic Chemistry 1)
- Biochemistry without lab (completed through a comprehensive one-semester course)
- Human physiology with lab (completed through a comprehensive one-semester course or through Anatomy & Physiology 1 and 2 with labs)
- Microbiology without lab
- Introductory Nutrition
- Statistics
At least four of these courses must be completed with grades of B or better prior to the application deadline. If admitted to our Program in Nutrition, you will need to complete all remaining prerequisite courses with grades of B or better prior to beginning our master’s program in September.
Please note that Introductory Nutrition, Biochemistry, and Human Physiology should have been completed within the past five years with grades of B or better.
