She inspired others to care for themselves, remain authentic, and take up the space they’re equally entitled to, while inspiring others to use their resources intentionally.

    School psychology faculty and students at Teachers College, Columbia University were saddened and infuriated to learn about the racist treatment of Dr. Celeste Malone, the President of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and her guests, by Hyatt Corporation staff while at the NASP 2023 Convention in Denver, CO. This statement is written in solidarity with Dr. Celeste Malone and in support of Black school psychologists and other racially minoritized current and future school psychologists.     School Psychology Diversity Research Award

    The School Psychology Diversity Research Award recognizes excellence in high-quality research that furthers the research on diversity, equity, or inclusion-related topics within the field of school psychology. Up to 2 $250 awards are made each year to students who are first authors on a conference presentation (including poster, symposium, paper) on a topic related to diversity. Funds can support the student to travel to the conference. Funds may be used only for conference registration fees, travel reimbursement and/or hotel accommodations.     The Advocating for Anti-Racism Practices Executive Summary

    Executive Summary: Advocating for Anti-Racism Practices Elyse Frank & Kayla Parr, Ph.D. students, are teaming up with doctoral students in the Education Policy and Social Analysis (EPSA) to create a community of student-led organizers for racial and social justice at Teachers College doctoral students in the Education Policy and Social Analysis (EPSA).     Decolonizing Psychology Conference

    The Decolonizing Psychology Training was a full-day conference with the goal “to provide educators, supervisors, and students within the field of psychology and related fields with the needed resources to critically examine and decolonize their curricular, research, supervision, and mentorship practices.”  “Recent attention has initiated a critical examination of the role of systemic racism across all sectors of society.     Anti-Racist School Communities

    Panel with MZIMA on “Anti-Racist School Communities: Promoting Racially and Culturally Responsive Practices in School Psychology”  SPACE (previously known as TC School Psychology Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Collective)  hosted a panel with MZIMA Consulting, LLC on anti-racist school communities. This panel discussed anti-racist practices, school to prison pipeline, and restorative justice, areas in which TC school psychology students and alumni have shared are of particular interest!
