Our Voice: TC Survey

Dear Colleagues,

For those of you who took the survey, thank you for taking the time to share your perspectives about working at Teachers College. The 2024 TC Employee Survey was open from March 26 through April 11. Forty-nine percent of the population invited to take the survey seized the opportunity to have their voices heard.

Your survey responses indicated that employee empowerment has the greatest impact on engagement, followed by recognition and culture.

Our overall engagement score is 58%, which is slightly below the benchmark of 62%. Key takeaways from this year’s survey indicate that your overall experience working at Teachers College is positive, especially as it relates to teams working toward a shared goal, our work environment, co-worker relationships, work/life balance, and your manager's recognizing your contributions. Collectively, the responses illuminated that [employee] empowerment has the most significant impact on engagement. Having the resources, tools, information, and flexibility to do your job is of the utmost importance. In addition, your responses reaffirmed that you feel safe at work and acknowledged that the College takes action to maintain the health and safety of employees.

The College provides resources that enable the overall Work, Life, and Well-being (i.e., Social, Financial, Physical, and Mental Health) of a multigenerational, diverse community. You voiced that financial planning is a priority while you’re actively employed and in your retirement. In addition, your responses expressed that you want to ‘live well,’ and many individuals recommended how TC can support you and your family in this quest.

More than 400 responses to the open-ended questions were received, and we will host focus groups to further unpack areas aligned with your expectations, including organizational strengths and where there are opportunities for change. You’re encouraged to join us later this month.
