Employee Accommodations
Employees with a documented disability are eligible for accommodations through the Office of Access and Services for Individuals with Disabilities (OASID). A reasonable accommodation is any change to the job, to the way the job is done, or the work environment that allows a person with a disability to perform the job’s essential functions. These accommodations include but are not limited to:
- Workspace adjustments
- Work schedule adjustments
- Provide or adjust a product, equipment, or software
- Provide an aid or a service to increase access
In order to receive accommodations, employees must register with OASID by submitting an Accommodation Request and providing clinical documentation of their disability. Once the request is received, the employee will engage in an interactive dialogue with OASID
staff and the employee’s supervisor to assess whether an employee’s disability can be
reasonably accommodated. Accommodations will remain confidential unless an employee
specifically requests for the accommodations to be disclosed to other parties.
Ergonomic Workstations
Employees that have a diagnosed disability, such as a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD), that requires an ergonomic office item to alleviate their symptoms, are encouraged to register with OASID to determine what accommodations they may be eligible to receive.
Employees that do not have a diagnosed condition that requires ergonomic accommodations, but are experiencing discomfort related to their physical work space, are encouraged to utilize the resources below to determine what support may help to alleviate symptoms.
