As of January 2019, the federal government instituted a New Common Rule for IRB review. Below is a summary of these changes and how they may impact researchers at Teachers College (TC). The TC IRB has implemented these changes into their Standard Operating Procedures, and TC researchers are expected to abide by these provisions. *Minimal risk: the probability and magnitude of harm or discomfort anticipated in the research are not greater than those ordinarily encountered in daily life or during routine physical or psychological examinations or tests.
