The George W. Perkins Memorial Scholarship

Background

This scholarship recognizes students showing exemplary commitment to the International and Comparative Education Program and contributing to the collaborative spirit of the program, working with students, faculty and staff. The scholarship honors Teachers College Alumni George W. Perkins (MA’ 1921) who served as Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs under Dean Acheson, from 1949 to 1953, and as the US Permanent Representative to NATO, with rank of Ambassador, from 1955 to 1957. His wife, Linn Merck Perkins established the scholarship in 1992 to support students studying International Education. Read more about George W. Perkins.

Eligibility

Only students in the International and Comparative Education Program at Teachers College are eligible for this scholarship. Students must be nominated for this scholarship by faculty in the Program.

Award

Recipients will receive a stipend (the amount will vary).

Criteria for selection

• Exceptional commitment and service to making the International and Comparative Education Program better.
