Visiting Scholars

Teachers College (TC) welcomes visitors who do not hold academic appointments to join the College for a specific period of time to conduct research and participate in TC’s academic community. To support these visitors and acknowledge their contributions, TC offers Visiting Scholar (VS) status, which includes certain benefits and privileges as outlined in the College’s policies and procedures.

If you need J-1 visa sponsorship to participate in the Visiting Scholar Program, the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) can help you obtain the necessary J-1 documents before your arrival. For more information, please see the J-1 Research Scholar/Professor section.

Note: Individuals who do not meet the Visiting Scholar requirements but are currently enrolled doctoral students invited by a TC faculty member may be eligible for Visiting Doctoral Student (VDS) status.
