Tia Akasaki

Tia Akasaki is a master’s student in the Motor Learning and Control program at Teachers College, Columbia University. She earned her BA in Kinesiology from Occidental College, where she was also a student-athlete on the women’s track and field team. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Tia is eager to explore the real-world applications of motor learning and control across a variety of fields. One of her research interests is how the timing of feedback impacts skill re-acquisition and shapes biomechanical responses and adaptations across individuals.

She enjoys running, going to the beach, and getting coffee with friends (especially iced vanilla lattes with oat milk :)).
