On Wednesday, January 16th 2019 we joined our Food-Ed Coalition colleagues for a rally and hearing to support Int 1283, the NYC Food & Nutrition Ed reporting bill, from City Council Education Committee Chairman Mark Treyger & Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer. The experience was exciting and empowering for nutrition education advocates, parents, students, educators, and organizations across the city.
ALL New York City students deserve healthy, equitable, sustainable, and culturally responsive food access and education. The Department of Education needs to shine a light on the gaps in food and nutrition education so that parents, students, educators, advocates, and policy makers can craft policies that direct resources to the schools and students that need them most.
