    P-EBT Benefits Enable NYC Students’ Families to Buy More Food, Support Local Economies

    Additional food assistance through Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) is now available to all NY students who would have received a free or reduced-price meal at school—including undocumented students, students whose private schools participate in the National School Lunch Program, and students in districts that implement the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

    For NYC Students, Healthy Eating Just Got a Lot Harder - 37 Groups Call on City Council to Respond in FY21 Budget

    During the public health crisis, the Food Ed Hub has emerged as a key convener, coordinating COVID-19 responses with its 80+ Coalition Members to continue to provide critical resources to vulnerable communities, despite increasing financial pressures. In a letter to City Council, the 37 supporting organizations urge City Council to include funding for the Food Ed Hub in FY2021.

    Food Ed Hub History

    In July 2019, the City Council allotted $250,000 for fiscal year 2020 to support the Food Ed Hub. The Coalition decided that the Tisch Food Center would become the home for the Food Ed Hub. The Food Ed Hub now acts as a formal structure to foster collaboration and coordination among Food Ed organizations, helping to align resources, increase efficiency, avoid duplication of effort, and identify best practices that can be brought to scale.
