City and State New York, the media organization dedicated to covering politics and policy statewide, has released its 2020 “Education Power 100” rankings of the most influential education leaders in New York State and New York City, and Teachers College is amply represented.
Noting that New York state spends more on education than any other part of its budget, City and State’s editors highlight “the officials, administrators, advocates, executives and union leaders who are shepherding New York government’s most meaningful industry.”
Members of the extended TC community who made the list are:
Michael Rebell, Professor of Practice in Law and Education Policy; Executive Director of TC’s Center for Educational Equity; former lead attorney in the landmark Campaign for Fiscal Equity lawsuit that won New York City billions of additional dollars in education funding from New York State; current lead attorney in a federal lawsuit that argues the state of Rhode Island has failed to provide students with sufficient civics education.
